If you want to see a show that will make your jaw drop open and stay there, then don’t miss Scattered at the Torch Theatre next week [Tuesday 20 April] - a sensational new production where film and movement integrate in a completely new and, quite frankly, breathtaking way.Using projection created by award-winning Spanish filmmakers, Logela Multimedia, visionary director Kevin Finnan has created a world of water in a truly inspiring show from the award winning Motionhouse dance theatre company where athletic movement blends sensationally with Logela’s projections. With the aid of aerial harnesses and bungees, the seven daring performers are at one moment on the stage then suddenly sprinting up a giant curved wall which disappears skywards (think half pipe snowboard or skate ramp), immersing themselves in sensational images of cascading waterfalls, rainstorms and swimming pools. They hang, suspended over a frozen landscape of arctic beauty at the very top of the curve before diving onto the stage through the ice floes and frozen waters; they hurl themselves into tidal waves, they stride up projected escalators, and they fling themselves onto projected deckchairs. As a dancer kicks the back wall, water droplets spray up - this thrilling and unique show is practically jet propelled. Original music by gifted composer Sophy Smith and atmospheric lighting by Natasha Chivers aid the ‘ebb and flow’ of this exceptional piece; and set designer extraordinaire Simon Dormon is the mastermind behind the giant curved stage which he fashioned out of salvaged boat hulls. Scattered, performed by Motionhouse, can be seen at Milford Haven’s Torch Theatre on Tuesday 20 April. Tickets may be reserved online at www.torchtheatre.co.uk or by calling the Theatre Box Office on 01646 695267. If you’re still not sure what you are letting yourself in for, take a look at a trailer of their work on the Torch’s website, or alternatively go to www.motionhouse.co.uk for a full ten minute blast! |
