This production of Billy Elliot the Musical is being produced as part of the Billy Youth Theatre. Billy Elliot is the inspirational story of one boy's dream to realise his ambitions against the odds. Set in the North East of England against the background of the historic 1984 / 85 miners' strike, Billy pursues his passion for dance in secret to avoid the disapproval of his struggling family. Full of life, laughter incredible dancing and unforgettable music by Elton John, this inspirational theatrical experience will stay with you forever. Stagecoach principal Liane Davies is excited about Stagecoach Carmarthen’s participation in the exclusive Billy Youth Theatre Project. Billy Elliot is more than a fictional story and Jamie Bell star of the film himself a ex Stagecoach student is living proof that Stagecoach really does train its very own Billys. Liane and the Creative team at Carmarthen Stagecoach are passionate about giving local students a chance to realise their ambition and to have a taste of the Billy Elliot experience. Liane Davies said: “As Elton John, the composer of the music of the hit musical, said ‘the arts can take you to places you never dreamed of’ and that’s exactly what we aim to encourage and develop at Stagecoach Carmarthen.” All additional proceedes raised from ticket sales for this production will be donated to InterAct – The Stagecoach Charity an organisation that runs free classes and workshops for disadvantaged children to enjoy the benefits of drama, music and movement.
