Cultural Tourism Headlines at Arts Council of Wales Marketing Symposium

Following the success of last year’s event, the Arts Council of Wales (ACW) this year focuses on cultural tourism as it organises another one-day symposium for anyone working in the arts sector in Wales at Theatr Brycheiniog, Brecon on Tuesday 13 November 2001.

The ACW Marketing Symposium will be a major opportunity for those working in the marketing or the administration of the arts in Wales, and is open to any sector to network, share best practice, and catch up with new developments.

Keynote speakers at the event, Nigel Adams, Head of Development Planning at the Wales Tourist Board and tourism consultant Allan Wynne Jones, will look at cultural tourism and its relationship with the arts in Wales.

Ann Kellaway, ACW Senior Presentation and Marketing Officer says: “This is an excellent way of bringing people together from within the arts community to collectively develop existing skills and also to explore new ideas and new ways of working.

“We are very pleased to be able to introduce good speakers on the topic of cultural tourism – an area in which the arts play a central role. Indeed, the future of Wales’ strength and vibrancy in this field will very much depend on the continuing success of the arts in Wales,” she said.

The day will comprise ten seminars held over three sessions, covering subjects such as marketing Welsh language drama, subscription marketing, marketing the visual arts, marketing to schools, direct marketing strategies and cross sector collaboration. The majority of seminars will be led by Welsh based practitioners

Bookings should be made through Louise Piper at the ACW Cardiff office, Tel: 029 2037 6500, e-mail:
Applications should be completed and returned by 5th November.

The conference is subsidised by ACW, therefore the delegate rate for the day is just £30.00 per person.
