Earthfall return to the international stage in RETRO/PER/SPECTIVES theatre festival in Lodz, Poland

Earthfall return to the international stage in RETRO/PER/SPECTIVES theatre festival in Lodz, Poland This August will see Earthfall continuing their international work through a co-production of their 2005 show After The Birds, with CHOREA, a polish based theatre company.

As part of the RETRO/PER/SPECTIVES festival running from the 13th July to the 31st August in Lodz, Earthfall will feature in 3 performances, with performers from all over the world coming to the event.

Jim Ennis is one of the Artistic Directors currently out in Poland and working on the project.

“After the Birds was created five years ago and premiered in Wales in Chapter. For me it is like returning to an old friend. With a work that has been developed over this period, the detail and precision you are able to go into is immense.”

Jim Ennis and Jessica Cohen are the two Artistic Directors for Earthfall and have a long standing relationship with CHOREA and the festival. This year Jim has also been asked to take part in a discussion at the festival with a panel on international artists.

Po Ptakach / After the Birds was created in Cardiff by CHOREA and Earthfall in 2005. Using two different aesthetics and working methods, the two groups jointly created a brand new language on the border of genres and styles. CHOREA and Earthfall confront ancient Greek choral songs with modern music, urban space choreography and fears of the modern world asking questions like ‘Can a paradise on Earth be built only behind barbed-wire fences? Do all world healing visions become equally bitter and dangerous when we start putting them into practice?

Earthfall as a company continue to develop and explore their relationships across the globe, they have regularly worked with companies in both Poland and Brussels and have toured internationally across France Germany, Holland and South America.
