Two men, one name, coincidence or something more sinister?

Two men, one name, coincidence or something more sinister? Do we live in a world where coincidence is a reality or are we simply living in a world filled with so many people that sooner or later events of sheer coincidence are bound to happen?

Written by Owen Thomas, this darkly comic two hander starring actors Gareth John Bale and Alastair Sill, explores a chance encounter aboard a ferry between a man called Richard Parker and an enigmatic stranger who, through a series of revelations, is set to change Richard's life forever.

Exploring the notion of fate and coincidence the play began life as a 20 minute one - act piece. Following the success of the one-act version as part of the company's 'Zufall' production in 2008, 3D Theatre  Company invited the writer, Owen Thomas, to develop the work further into a two act play.  The extended version successfully toured Wales and the UK beginning its journey in September 2009 at the celebrated 'Hen and Chickens Theatre in Islington, London, and then back to Wales packing in audiences at Pontardawe Arts Centre, The Grand, Swansea, The Torch @Milford Haven, and culminating with a sell-out show at The Sherman.

The company are embarking on a rural and semi-rural tour this Autumn, in Walsall, Hay, Shropshire and Aberystwyth, with one inner city date in Cardiff. Hannah Wynn Jones, Co-Producer explains the appeal of visiting these particular venues:-
'Our original mission statement as a company was that we wanted to make accessible theatre. This meant taking theatre to the people, and what better way of doing this than organising a tour at village halls, rural, and semi rural venues. We wanted an informal and amiable environment that would allow audience members to feel at home. The simplicity of the set makes staging and touring this intimate play a possibility for us. '

3D Theatre Company was established in the summer of 2003 at Aberystwyth University by three friends who shared the same interest and enthusiasm for one thing 'the theatre. Nia Wyn Jones from Aberdaron, Hannah Wynn Jones from Colwyn Bay and Catrin Wyn Jones from Llanelli. Good friends and now business partners.

Returning to Aberystwyth is a poignant and special event for the girls with it being 10 years virtually to the day since they began University there. Catrin Wyn Jones says:-
'It's very rewarding for us to be able to bring our work back to the birthplace of the company. Little did we think when we formed 3D seven years ago that we'd be coming back and staging our own show at the Arts Centre. We feel privileged.'

Nia Wyn Jones talks about the joy of seeing new work being so warmly accepted by audiences so far 'Owen Thomas ' the writer of Richard Parker, was born and bred in the Hay area.   As a company we're thrilled that Owen's work will be enjoyed by a home crowd at The Globe and now hope that more people across the Uk can enjoy' who knows where we'll take it in 2011!'

This particular tour therefore holds a great personal significance for the girls and Owen as they hope to emulate the success of the London and South Wales run of last year.
