See yourself as the next George Clooney, or Catherine Zeta-Jones? Got a passion for performing? Then read on...Theatre Arts: Get Involved (www.target-arts.org) will be running a workshop on Sparkle and Shine! a new musical for 4-11 year olds, on Sat 18th-Wed 22nd December 2010, 9:30am-3:30pm, that will take place at the SHARE centre, 88 Stow Hill, Newport NP204DW. As part of TARGET’s unique focus on pupil-voice and original creativity, the production will be student-led. Participants will have the opportunity to be their own directors, to design and build their own set, and devise their own costumes. Students will also be involved in appearing in the promotional video for The Sparkle Appeal, which will be used by the charity to raise awareness of its work via the medium of music and theatre. Sparkle and Shine! is an innovative, new, musical written specifically for and in aid of The Sparkle Appeal. Leo is a newborn star, who can't quite shine as brightly as his friends. Despite all his best efforts he has no luck, much to the amusement of his 'friends', who pick on him for being 'little'. Fed up of being ridiculed, little Leo decides to leave his home in the stars and journey to Earth. Whilst on his travels, Leo meets lots of lovely people, from a number of different cultural backgrounds, learning each time about how different people celebrate. Each time, little Leo is involved in the celebrations and shines brighter and brighter as he becomes happier and happier. Aimed at students aged 4-11, Sparkle and Shine! focuses on the themes of respect, tolerance and the unbreakable bond of friendship.
