The Drama Association of Wales and Conwy Civic Hall are proud to present the annual Conwy One Act Drama Festival. The Festival will take place at Conwy Civic Hall from the 17th to the 19h of March 2011 and tickets will cost £8.00 or £20 for a 3 day festival ticket. The Festival will begin at 7.00pm each evening and will be followed by a public adjudication by Ben Humphrey GODA (Guild of Drama Adjudicators). The adjudicator for 2011 will be Mr. Ben Humphrey; we can organize a Welsh language advisor to assist the adjudicator with Welsh language productions.The Conwy Festival forms part of the UK National Festival of Community Theatre and it is here that local companies will compete for the opportunity to proceed to the Wales Final Festival held in North One Act Plays Wales this year. The Conwy Festival welcomes entries from companies of all ages, backgrounds and experience. We are also encouraging performances from groups who may wish to take part in the Festival, but not be adjudicated as part of the ‘competition.’ Performances should be between 20 and 50 minutes long and can be a one-act play, an excerpt from a longer play or a devised piece. (Please feel free to contact me should you need any help in selecting a play as DAW holds the largest drama lending library in Europe and we are always willing to offer advice and guidance.) There will not be a charge for taking part in the festival this year; but a deposit of £25 should be sent to the North Wales Development Officer as a guarantee that a group will be performing; it will be refunded once the groups have performed. New to this year we’ve introduced a youth category (16-25); all youth groups are welcome to perform and are eligible to go on to the Wales Final and British Final.
