Captivating drama from the undisputed Queen of Crime The Agatha Christie Theatre Company returns to the New Theatre from Tuesday 15- Saturday 19 February with Verdict, another suspense-filled story from the Queen of Crime. Featuring an all star cast, Verdict is a classic Christie with a twist and will have the audience gripped from the outset.

Having been forced to flee persecution in his home country, the idealistic Professor Karl Hendryk leads a content life, caring for his invalid wife Anya. His world is turned upside-down when the prospect of life-saving treatment for his wife forces him to take on a new pupil, Helen. This spoiled young woman will stop at nothing to become his lover. Soon the Professor becomes embroiled in a web of lies and deceit. A further combination of love and murder make events more complicated and the real mystery begins to unfold. Will the true killer ever face the consequences of their actions and be brought to justice?

The talented cast is led by Dawn Steele, best known for her current role in the popular ITV series Wild at Heart. She is joined by Ali Bastian (the Bill & Strictly Come Dancing), Matthew Lewis (Neville in the Harry Potter film series), Peter Byrne (Dixon of Dock Green), Robert Duncan (Drop the Dead Donkey), Elizabeth Power (EastEnders), and 60’s teen idol Mark Wynter.

Universally known and admired, Agatha Christie produced eighty crime novels and short story collections, selling an estimated two billion copies of her works. Verdict is one of very few original Christie plays, written and performed in 1958 it ran in the West-end over 250 times. The show has since travelled across the globe to New York and most recently Luxembourg.

The Unexpected Guest, The Hollow, Spiders Web and Witness for the Prosecution are some of the previous successes that The Agatha Christie Theatre Company have brought to the New Theatre. Born in 2006 through an agreement between Bill Kenwright and Agatha Christie Ltd, the company has become renowned for its first class adaptation of the original stage plays.
