Hijinx Theatre – Public Meeting - Wednesday 9th Feb – 7pm-9pm

Hijinx Theatre – Public Meeting - Wednesday 9th Feb – 7pm-9pm A public meeting will take place at Sbectrwm, Bwlch Road, Fairwater, Cardiff CF5 3EF to debate the recent and devastating reduction by the Arts Council of Wales to Hijinx’s revenue funding.

In June 2010, as part of their Investment Review, the ACW cut funding to Hijinx’s autumn community tour from 2011. In December 2011 ACW cut their revenue funding by £74,448 (one third). Hijinx Odyssey Theatre project, previously funded by a National Lottery project grant, must be delivered within their revenue funding meaning a loss in real terms of £104,438. This is a cut of close to 40% whilst the ACW’s grant budget from Welsh Assembly Government will reduce by only 4%. This will mean all activity for and with people with learning disabilities will reduce as well as the loss of the community tour – the company will have to reduce their activity considerably and redundancies will be inevitable.

You are therefore invited to take part in the meeting, to discuss what these cuts mean and how you can help the company go forward. Your attendance would be much appreciated.

In the meantime you could sign Hijinx’s online petition at http://tinyurl.com/5wr29ne (you could also support Theatr Powys’ petition at the same time!)
