NYDW takes to the road in May as it seeks to select up to 15 young dancers aged between 16 – 21 years to ‘dance for Wales’. Successful applicants will join NYDW 2011 for an intensive summer residency in July 2011 during which they will work with NYDW Artistic Director, Errol White, to create and perform a brand new piece of choreography. Regional auditions for NYDW 2011 will be held in Aberystwyth, Cardiff, Carmarthen, Conwy, Llandrindod Wells and Swansea. Applicants should be able to demonstrate active involvement with dance at a high or intermediate level, and must be aged 16 – 21 years by 31 August 2011. Selected dancers must be available for a pre-summer course (25 – 26 June) and for the full two-week residency (18 – 30 July). With the benefit of additional funds from the Arts Council of Wales, NYDW is able to offer an enhanced and expanded programme from 2011 – providing some of Wales’ most talented young dancers with more first-class training, performing and touring opportunities. Application Forms are available to download from www.nyaw.co.uk, or by contacting 029 2026 5060. Deadline for applications: 3 May 2011. Errol, an award-winning performer, trained at the Northern Contemporary Dance School and has performed with some of the UK’s best known contemporary dance companies including Diversions – the Dance Company of Wales (now National Dance Company Wales), Phoenix Dance Company, Scottish Dance Theatre and X Factor. He has also performed internationally for many years, working alongside numerous, distinguished directors and choreographers. Now Artistic Director of his own company (errol white dance company), Errol is forging a reputation as an exciting dancer/choreographer; he is in-demand as a guest lecturer in dance colleges throughout the UK, and also leads residencies and classes for professional dance companies. |
