Previously a member of the D’Oyly Cart Opera Company, she went on to tread the boards in 1963 at Drury Lane as one of Professor Higgins’ maids and as understudy to Eliza Doolittle. Talking about her affection for the musical she says “it is still very close to my heart. I love the music and am thrilled to be playing Mrs Higgins in Orbit’s production”. My Fair Lady transferred from Broadway and opened its doors in Drury Lane to packed crowds in 1958. The show kept much of its Broadway cast which included Rex Harrison as Professor Higgins and Julie Andrews as Eliza Doolittle. By the time Mason joined the company in 1963 the cast included James Hayter, Jean Scott and Charles Stapley.
