A new stage version of the romantic fantasy The Ghost and Mrs Muir comes to the New Theatre from Tuesday 28 June to Saturday 2 July starring Anna Brecon, George Telfer and Marcus Hutton.The story tells of strong-willed widow Lucy Muir who moves to Gull Cottage by the seaside, despite warnings by previous tenants and the landlord himself that it is haunted. Sure enough, that very night she meets the ghost of crusty former owner, Captain Gregg, however she refuses to be scared off. The two go on to become friends and allies but when a charming live man comes courting, Lucy and the Captain must deal with their feelings for each other as their budding friendship is threatened forever. The talented cast includes Anna Brecon who plays Mrs Muir. Anna is best known for her role as Lady Tara in Emmerdale, for which she won ‘Best Newcomer’ at the National Television Awards. Her other TV work includes Doctors, The Bill and The Investigator. George Telfer plays the Captain, Daniel Gregg. Having appeared in numerous repertory seasons, Telfer is best known for his role in the 2010 film noir, Innocent Crimes. Playing the suave Miles Fairley is Marcus Hutton who played Nathan Cuddington for two years in Brookside. The 1947 film of The Ghost and Mrs Muir starred Rex Harrison, Gene Tierney and George Sanders and was based on the 1945 novel by Josephine Leslie under the pseudonym R.A. Dick.
