What Was That? Productions present Table Manners at Aberystwyth Arts Centre |
Wednesday 22 June. 7.45pm After the sell-out World Premiere of ‘The Kebabman Cometh’ in 2010, What Was That? Productions return to Aberystwyth Arts Centre for a one night performance of Alan Ayckbourn's 'Table Manners'. Ayckbourn himself confesses that 'Table Manners' is the funnier of the three hilarious plays in his "Norman Conquests Trilogy". A series of plays which take place on the same weekend, simultaneously with the same 6 characters. The central character is Norman (something of a playboy) he is eccentric, flirty, without morals and a complete riot waiting to happen! Norman is married to one sister but is planning a sneaky weekend away with another sister in East Grinstead, never heard of anyone holidaying in East Grinstead? As Sarah proclaims "well I suppose they must". The play is produced by the Aberystwyth Arts Centre Open Platform Scheme along with Aberystwyth graduate Alan Mehdizadeh (who also plays Reg). Directing this production is another Aberystwyth graduate, Adam Lacey. Furthermore, there is a third Aber graduate; Steve Humpherson is also returning to act in the role of Tom, a hapless and naïve vet. The play boasts a very talented cast of six including Mehdizadeh (Watership Down, Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre. Robin Hood, Evolution Production- Canterbury Marlowe Theatre, Fiddler on the Roof, Richmond Theatre), Michael Anders (West Side Story, Aberystwyth Arts Centre, Robin Hood, Evolution Productions- Canterbury Marlowe Theatre, Hamlet/R&J, Shakespeare 4 Kidz), Steven Humpherson (Cinderella, Worthing Pavilion. That’s Entertainment, Jermyn Street Theatre & Tour. Wasted, Cragrats), Sarah Annakin (Thursford Christmas Spectacular. Medea, Citizens Theatre. Elton John Support, Royal Albert Hall), Elaine Hartley (Witchcraft, Broadway Theatre. The White Devil, Blue Elephant Theatre. Canvas, Derby/Edinburgh/Buxton Festivals) and Laura Bacon (Deception, Henley Fringe. Win, Lose, Draw, Etcetera Theatre. Together Scored, Bloomsbury Theatre). Directed by Adam Lacey (Little Shop of Horrors, Noises Off, & The Last 5 Years). What Was That? Productions are a young and vibrant company who aim to produce both published and new writing. Following the Aberystwyth leg of the show they are planning to produce a run in London. For more info please contact wwtproductions@googlemail.com The performance starts at 7.45pm.
