A Site Specific Performance in a VW Camper Van at Aberystwyth Arts Centre 5-6 August.Created and Performed by Laura Mugridge FRINGE FIRST AWARD WINNER 2010 “A life affirming, love-affirming odyssey full of exquisite tiny details… while her show may be brilliantly simple, she is simply brilliant” ´´´´´ Metro Following a highly-acclaimed Edinburgh run last year, comedienne and raconteur Laura Mugridge is (quite literally) taking her show on the road this summer, in a 19-date tour that brings her unique brand of storytelling to towns up and down the UK. Performed in a vintage, yellow VW campervan called ‘Joni’, Running On Air is a new theatre show for just five audience members at a time, created by stand-up comedian Laura Mugridge in collaboration with Tom Frankland, one of the team behind Fringe First Award winning Paperweight. Recreating the beauty of the great outdoors inside the campervan, Laura takes the audience on a journey from Lands End to Edinburgh, sharing her experience of marriage, camping and life on the road. With her own brand of quirky and charming comedy, Laura describes a journey that involves fell running and a performance in front of a giant kestrel: a joyful investigation into the beauty and complexity of domestic life. Laura Mugridge is a stand up comedienne, storyteller and improviser who has been performing on the London and Brighton circuit for four years. She runs Rabbit in the Headlights, a monthly comedy night at the Three and Ten Theatre in Brighton and is a regular performer with award-winning improvisation troupe The Maydays. Running On Air was Laura’s award-winning debut solo theatre show. The development of Running On Air was supported by the Camden People’s Theatre, and the upcoming tour is produced by Ric Watts. You can keep up with Laura via her website: www.lauramugridge.co.uk or through her blog: www.adventuresinwellingtons.blogspot.com “Running on Air is cleverly designed to celebrate the joy of storytelling, the allure of the open road and the nourishment on home. It’s just lovely” Scotland on Sunday Performances are at 12 noon, 3pm and 7pm. Tickets are £10 (£8). To book contact the ticket office 01970 62 32 32 or go online www.aber.ac.uk/artscentre. |
