Llwyth Returns for Second Welsh Tour Following Run at Edinburgh Festival Fringe Fresh from the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Sherman Cymru and Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru bring the hit production ’Llwyth’ [Tribe] to the stages of Wales once again.

The two leading Welsh theatre companies have joined forces to stage a new production of ‘Llwyth [Tribe]’ by the award winning writer Dafydd James.

Rugby international night in Cardiff and the tribes are out in force. Wales has lost, but four gay friends are determined to have a night to remember… whatever the cost.

The ’Llwyth’ tour will open at the new Richard Burton Theatre, Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, Cardiff on 13-16 September 2011.

In order to attract non Welsh speakers, the performances on 14 and 16 September will be with English language surtitles.

‘Llwyth’ will then tour to Galeri Caernarfon (20-21 September), Theatr Mwldan, Cardigan (23 September), Y Llwyfan, Carmarthen (26-27 September), Theatr John Ambrose, Rhuthin (29 September) and Theatr Gartholwg, Church Village (01 October). There will be English language surtitles at selected performances and a local choir will be taking part in each of the different tour locations.

Originally produced by Sherman Cymru in April 2010, ‘Llwyth’ received rave reviews and played to packed theatres throughout Wales, as well as having a sell-out run in London.

‘Llwyth’ formed part of the British Council International Showcase at this years Edinburgh Festival Fringe and ran from 20-28 August 2011.

‘Llwyth’ is directed by Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru’s Artistic Director Arwel Gruffydd and stars Simon Watts, Danny Grehan, Paul Morgans, Michael Humphreys and newcomer Joshua Price.

Arwel Gruffydd comments: “This exciting partnership between Sherman Cymru and Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru has allowed for this gloriously uplifting vision of Wales to be shown to the audiences of Wales once again. By providing English language surtitles at selected performances, we are widening the show’s appeal so that more people can enjoy the experience.”
