Writer Jamie O’Neill gets his feet wet as Earthfall’s flagship production, At Swim Two Boys - set in a pool of water, tours the UK in October.Acclaimed author Jamie O’Neill will be joining Earthfall for their 2011 Autumn Tour of At Swim Two Boys, based on his award winning and iconic piece of gay literature. Touring across the UK from October to December the powerful and emotionally charged story unfolds against a cascading wall of water that slowly fills the stage. Earthfall’s award winning production features two male dancers, Daniel Connor and Murilo Leite and two musicians. Tender and visually beautiful the production reflects the boys developing love against the turmoil of political revolution during the 1916 Easter Risings. With dynamic dance, music and film, performed in an ever increasing pool of water, come prepared to get wet. “Disturbingly brilliant hi-octane physical dance theatre” Time Out, London Jamie O’Neill will be joining with the company for the opening nights at Brecon, Theatr Brychieniog – 13th/14th October and will be holding post-show discussions at : • Canterbury, Gulbenkian - 4th/5th November • Liverpool, Unity Theatre – 8th/9th November • Newcastle, Dance City 11th/ 12th November. He will also be attending the Cardiff, Wales Millennium Centre, Dance Insights talk on October 6th, 6:00pm along with Jess Cohen the Artistic Director of Earthfall. “I look forward to returning to Wales and helping the production take shape. Working with Earthfall, though sometimes damp, is always a joy and this promises to be as beautiful and powerful (and wet) as the 2005 production.” Jamie O’Neill The production comes to life in a slowly filling lake in front of a wall of water, with episodes from the book woven together through a fusion of extreme physicality, original live music and film. The two new dancers are Daniel Connor, a graduate of Northern Contemporary Dance School and recent performer in Verve11 and Murilo Leite D’Imperio, Brazilian born Middlesex University Graduate, fresh from performing with Adam Hougland (Louisville Ballet, Cincinnati Ballet) and Julia Thorneycroft. The two original dancers, Cai Tomos and Terry Michaels will be involved throughout the rehearsal process to help retain the feel of the original piece. Jessica Cohen, co-artistic director commented, “Even though the original production finished touring the UK and mainland Europe in 2007, we get regular emails from fans and venues about a possible revival of this production.” She continued “A revival of this production in 2011/12 seems timely for us as it coincides with the 10th anniversary of the publication of the novel and we are fortunate we are able to reunite most of the original creative team” Alongside the show Earthfall are hosting a series of participatory workshops for different groups. Earthfall offer a range of workshops from half day’s to week long residencies, professional development and training days.
