New Perspectives Theatre present THOSE MAGNIFICENT MEN by Brian Mitchell and Joseph Nixon
Theatr Mwldan, Cardigan, Nos Fawrth 18 Hydref | Tuesday 18 October @ 7.30pm / yh

Extra, extra! Read all about it! £10,000 prize for the first ever non-stop transatlantic flight!

New Perspectives, The East Midland’s leading touring theatre company is reviving critically-acclaimed comedy writing duo, Brian Mitchell and Joseph Nixon’s Those Magnificent Men for a national tour following a run at the 2011 Edinburgh Festival Fringe which comes to Theatr Mwldan, Cardigan on Tuesday 18 October at 7.30pm.

It’s a classic tale of plucky British pioneers – Captain John Alcock, dashing WW1 fighter pilot, and Lieutenant Arthur Whitten Brown, navigational genius with a gammy leg, huddled together against the elements in the tiny timber and canvas cockpit of their converted Vickers Vimy biplane – talk about winging it!

Jump on board for a fast and furious comic tour-de-force in a race to conquer the skies over the Atlantic. Thrill to the sheer adventuring spirit of our unlikely heroes, marvel at their daredevil aerial antics, and wonder at how the whole bally thing is told with just two actors and a crate full of funny props.

Brian Mitchell and Joseph Nixon were born in Mansfield and started writing together at school. In 1992 they founded the award-winning sketch group The Ornate Johnsons – ‘The best sketch group since Python’ (The Guardian) and were winners of the 2006 Brighton Festival Best Comedy Award. They were head sketch writers on Radio 4’s It’s That Jo Caulfield Again and BBC1's Live and Kicking, and have written extensively for the stage.

Cast: Richard Earl & Ian Shaw

Daniel Buckroyd, New Perspectives’ Artistic Director commented:

"We’re delighted to be reviving Those Magnificent Men after such a fantastic response to our original tour. We’re also pleased that we’ll be co-producing the tour with Scamp Theatre. It’s a fantastic opportunity for us to exploit the imaginative power of theatre in telling a tale that spans two continents, features dozens of characters, and even requires us to build a Vickers Vimy biplane in front of the audience – in prospect both a fascinating slice of British history and an hilarious evening in the company of a classic British comedy double act.'

Tickets for Those Magnificent Men are £13 (£12) and can be booked via Theatr Mwldan’s Box Office on 01239 621200, online at www.mwldan.co.uk, or via your Smart phone: mwldan.ticketsolve.com/mobile.
