Gest Train welcomes Martin Houghton and a course for aspiring directors. |
Gest Train is an organisation based in Cardiff specialising in training aspiring actors and directors. We have just relaunched, with a brand new website and brand new courses. We are also delighted to announce Martin Houghton has joined Claire Purvis at Gest. Until recently Martin was a senior acting lecturer at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff where he worked for over ten years. He left to pursue a freelance career. Martin was trained at the prestigious London Drama Centre, and has worked in theatres and drama schools throughout the UK for a period of over thirty years. We will continue to offer courses for people of all ages and differing experience. Also, at a time when it is becoming increasingly expensive for students to attend drama schools, it is important to offer training to those who might want to study around the jobs that currently give them an income. Training at Gest therefore is offered at times suitable to those people, mainly in the evenings and at weekends. Gest's relaunch includes a unique course for aspiring Directors. There is a dearth of practical, vocational study for Directors and over a period of time we are planning a series of workshops focusing on this crucial area of the profession. We will continue to offer weekly acting courses and tuition for those hoping to go to drama school. together with a summer programme of relevant skills such as voice, singing, movement, combat and sight reading.
