Earthfall 2011 from Warhol to Water and from Brecon to Moscow!

2011 has been a hugely successful year for Earthfall, starting with the final leg of The Factory tour in spring, followed on by a sell-out revival tour of At Swim Two Boys across the UK. A co-production with Teatr Chorea, After The Birds, was performed in front of members of the EU Parliament in Ludz, and ended with a Christmas run at the renowned Meyerhold Centre in Moscow. Other international work included choreographing Chorea's 2011 Oratorium Dance Project in November.

At Swim Two Boys has been Earthfall’s runaway success story. The revival of the 2005 production coincides with the 10th anniversary of the novel by Jamie O’Neill and it sold out at venues across the UK, including Liverpool, Bath, Ormskirk, Canterbury, Birmingham and Earthfall’s hometown of Cardiff.

However, it is not just the UK in which Earthfall’s work has been seen, the ongoing relationship with Teatr Chorea took another exciting step forward; first performing After the Birds, to members of the EU Parliament, in Ludz on the same night that At Swim Two Boys opened in Brecon. The show then went on to do two Christmas performances at the renowned Meyerhold Centre, an infamous venue for physical theatre. Lara Ward, one of Earthfall’s company members also choreographed a choral piece with Chorea's 2011 Oratorium Dance Project.

In the meantime Earthfall’s Education and Participation also found time to; form Free2fall, a project working with Cardiff Metropolitan University, RWCMD and Newport Film School, deliver residencies in an underground car park with Bath Spa University and at Ridings Winterbourne International Academy, create two site specific residences at WMC, as well as launching Professional Development Classes at WMC in the summer and Chapter in the new year. In 2011 the Education and Participation programme delivered 144 sessions, 5 intensive work placements, 4 residencies, 2 readings, 2 Lecture demonstrations, 2 short term work placements,1 international internship, 1 be-spoke project and created 1 brilliant apprenticeship scheme, in total they served over 3500 participants.

Looking ahead to 2012 Earthfall’s season opens with a three week run at the Riverside Studios, London from 7th-25th February, before coming back to where they first dipped their toes in the water of At Swim Two Boys, at Chapter Arts Centre, 6th - 10th March. The show goes on to tour the rest of the UK up until the end of April. Full tour listings available at www.atswimtwoboys.com.

“…disturbingly brilliant hi-octane physical dance theatre”
Time Out, London

Earthfall and their Education and Participation team will be creating several residencies and educational projects across the year, including continuing to build on relationships with Cardiff Metropolitan University, Bath Spa University and University of Glamorgan. They are also looking forward to working more formally with Edgehill University and Newport Film School. In January there will be a new run of Professional Development Classes at Chapter, Cardiff. The Free2Fall project continues leading up to its final performance run in February.

Earthfall will also form part of a run of dance short screenings in the South West, along with films from Plymouth University and Chris Lewis-Smith at Bath Spa University, including the Earthfall films, Last Gig, The Factory and BAFTA Cymru nominated Gravitas-Postcards.

Earthfall are very excited to announce their new show Chelsea Hotel. Earthfall reveals the poetry, humour and madness from this iconic hotel and its place in contemporary culture over several decades. In development from autumn 2011 and touring the UK in Spring 2013.
