Hormonal Housewives starring Margi Clarke visits the New Theatre, Cardiff for two nights only on Wednesday 29 February & Thursday 1 March. Following its sell-out tour of Scotland, Hormonal Housewives is hilarious comedy written by husband and wife team Julie Coombe and John McIsaac. It follows the lives of three women as they battle against weight gain, weight loss, mood swings, wine, PMS, men, going to the gym, waxing, stretch marks, men, chocolate, upper-lip hair, chocolate, men, chocolate ... and all the other joys of being a 21st Century girl! After a stint as lead singer of various punk bands (once supporting Adam And The Ants), Liverpool-born Margi Clarke moved into acting. She joined the cast of Brookside before gaining recognition in 1985 with a role in cult British film Letter To Brezhnev, widely regarded as one of the most important British films of all time which went on to become a huge international hit. Her TV acting credits include Tyrone Dobb's mum in Coronation Street, Queenie in Making Out as well as parts in Casualty, Family Affairs and Benidorm. She presented the late night ITV show The Good Sex Guide which gained unheard of audience figures of 13 million and won the RTS Awards for "Best Female Presenter”. A regular guest on The Word, Margi also appeared in the 2011 series of Celebrity Master Chef. Joining her are Kay Purcell and Laura Checkley. Kay is well known for her role as Gina Conway in the highly successful Tracy Beaker series, Candice Smilie in Waterloo Road and Cynthia Dogget in Emmerdale. She also appeared in Celebrity Fit Club. Laura is one half of the hilarious female double act ‘Checkley & Bush’ who reached the finals of “The UK Funny Women Awards”. Laura runs her own comedy night in Leicester Square, where it is fast becoming one of the best character comedy nights on the circuit. Hormonal Housewives is directed by successful young theatre director Hannah Chissick. She became the youngest ever recipient of the Channel 4 Theatre Directors bursary, going on to the Derby Playhouse as Assistant and then Associate Director. She then went on to become the youngest Artistic Director in the country running Harrogate Theatre for 3 years.
