A contemporary production aimed at highlighting the serious issue of knife crime makes its way to Blackwood Miners’ Institute later this week. Chickenshed’s Crime of the Century comes to the ‘Stute this Friday 24th February at 6.30pm. Crime of the Century highlights the serious issue of knife crime through a fresh and contemporary approach of dance, projections and words to an arrangement of hip hop and dance music. Influenced by the death of three youngsters involved with their theatre, Chickenshed embarked on a journey to produce a positive tool in the fight against knife crime, supported by the Arts Council of Wales. The play is based upon interviews with victims, perpetrators, families, surgeons, police officers and ex-offenders. The end result is a critically acclaimed show suitable for everyone 11 or older.
