Welsh Companies include Theatr Iolo, Run Ragged Productions, Mess up the Mess, Screen and Sound Archive of Wales, Literature Wales and Festival organisers Arad Goch who will be performing four productions during the event. During the past twelve months Arad Goch have been working with Cardiff’s award winning design team , ‘Elfen’ (www.elfen.co.uk) to re-brand the Festival. The outcome was the striking multicoloured logo, capturing the vibrancy and gripping nature of the festival. As well as re branding the image, the Festival itself will now be known as a Performing Arts Festival rather than a Theatre Festival. The programme is an exciting mixture of dance, puppetry, music, poetry, animation and theatre. ‘We launched the programme in January and the response has been overwhelming with 6 out of 16 performances already sold out! We’ve had more bookings than ever from Students, School Children and families throughout Wales. We’ve also had a fantastic response from International partners, 35 representatives from as far afield as Russia, USA, Cameroon and Egypt are attending the Festival in search of International Performances to include in their own Festivals and venues’ Jeremy Turner, Artistic Director of Arad Goch AGOR DRYSAU – OPENING DOORS not only provides young people with the opportunity to see and experience International Performances and cultures, it also provides them with an opportunity to network with professionals from all corners of the globe, to create contacts and discuss future projects and ideas. As well as the jam packed Festival Programme, Arad Goch will be launching the ‘Fringe’ programme this week which will include music events, workshops, opportunities for young people and local artists to share their work, seminars and plenty of social events suitable for all ages. ‘The Festival is important on so many different levels and the fact that so many tickets have already been sold proves that there is a demand for the Festival. Despite the economic climate the Festival proves that people in Wales are willing to invest precious time and money in the arts, It’s a real confidence boost to our industry in an era of cut backs and financial strains’ Jeremy Turner, Artistic Director of Arad Goch The main Festival programme takes place in Aberystwyth but audiences throughout Wales will get an opportunity to experience various performances as many companies will be travelling to theatres and venues in North and South Wales.
