ROMAIN Guion is already being heralded as one of the most exciting choreographers to emerge from Wales - even though his work has yet to be performed in public. The 22-year-old Frenchman has been a dancer with Diversions, the Dance Company of Wales, since June 2000 but now he is being given the opportunity to create his own piece. In the past he has choreographed work for Diversions and dance companies in France and Ireland but this will be the first time his own routine is performed in public. Although he has ideas for his piece - which will focus on the story of Adam and Eve - he has not yet developed them. "I have the images in my mind but don't know how to translate them," he said. "Sometimes they can work really well but other times you can spend hours on them and then find they do not work." Diversions' artistic director Roy Campbell-Moore invited Guion to choreograph a piece for the company's Dance Trilogy after being impressed with routines he produced for a workshop last year. Dance Trilogy, which will be staged in Wales in June, features original work from Guion and two other young choreographers - Sean Tuan John and Jem Treays. Guion's piece, which will last about 25-minutes, will involve five dancers and he is looking forward to developing his ideas with them. "It will be really physical. The music will be by a French composer and based on dance music," he said. Although he is looking forward to making his public debut as a choreographer, he is also feeling nervous.
