New theatre company debuts next week in Nanteos mansion near Aberystwyth A NEW theatre company based exclusively at a refurbished mansion house in Wales makes its debut later this month.

The Nanteos Players take to the stage - or rather the restaurant of Nanteos Mansion - with an abridged version of 'The Importance of Being Earnest'.

The company launches with the Oscar Wilde’s comedy farce at Nanteos Mansion, Rhydyfelin, on Wednesday, 22, Friday 24, and Monday, 27 August (2pm).

Led by Theresa Jones and Richard Cheshire, the Nanteos Players is a group of local professional and semi-professional actors who want to take advantage of the grandiose venue.

Theresa Jones said: “The play fits in perfectly with the ambience and atmosphere of Nanteos Mansion and its grounds, and this really is the perfect play with which to launch Nanteos Players.”

The cast includes Lynne Baker as Lady Bracknell, Alex Neil (Algernon), Paris Wharton (Jack Worthing), Theresa Jones (Miss Prism), Jenny Boote (Gwendolen), Harriet Taylor (Cecily), Richard Cheshire (Rev Chasuble), John Corfield (Lane), and Liam Edwards (Merriman).

The performance breaks at 3.15pm for afternoon tea, before resuming for the second half.
