National Dance Company Wales opens autumn tour internationally
Wales’ national dance company launches its autumn tour of work created exclusively in Wales with a performance at Germany’s international contemporary dance exhibition, and a five city tour of China.

National Dance Company Wales, (NCWales) performs at Düsseldorf’s Internationale Tanzmesse NRW 2012 on 31st August and then visits China as part of the UK NOW festival, which promotes our national arts. The tour opens in Qingdao on 7th September, and visits Chongqing, Zgengzhou and Suzhou before finishing in Shanghai on 21st September.

The Chinese tour showcases Christopher Bruce CBE’s critically acclaimed Dream, created for the Cultural Olympiad performance Dance GB, in which English National Ballet, Scottish Ballet and NDCWales unified to celebrate London 2012.

Dream features alongside work from Itzik Galili and the Company’s signature piece By Singing Light by Stephen Petronio, which celebrates Welsh artistry through the works of Dylan Thomas and Mansel Thomas. NDCWales choreographer and dancer Eleesha Drennan will present her latest award-winning work Whiskers.

All the dances have been made at NDCWales’ Dance House in Cardiff Bay and the Company is returning to Germany and China after a successful tour several years ago and an international artistic exchange in India last year.

“I’m delighted that we are representing Wales on our international tour,” said NDCWales Artistic Director Ann Sholem. “I know that audiences will be swept away by the quality of our performances.”

NDCWales’ autumn tour launches in Llandudno at Venue Cymru on 2nd October and visits venues in Wales and England. See ndcwales for details.
