THE GLOBAL PHENOMENON CALENDAR GIRLSSwansea Grand Theatre Mon 1st - Sat 6th October 7.30pm (Thurs & Sat Mats 2.00pm) Since opening at the Chichester Festival Theatre in September 2008, Calendar Girls has been an unprecedented success playing over 100 sell out weeks at theatres across the country as well as a triumphant run in London's West End. Calendar Girls has become the most successful play to ever tour the UK and has grossed more at the box office than the smash hit film with ticket sales in excess of £25 million and the global phenomenon is at Swansea Grand Theatre for one week only, from Monday 1st to Saturday 6th October at 7.30pm, with matinees on Thursday and Saturday at 2.00pm. A group of ordinary women, members of a very ordinary Yorkshire WI, spark a global phenomenon by persuading one another to pose for a charity calendar with a difference! As interest snowballs, the calendar girls find themselves revealing more than they'd ever planned... Swansea Grand Theatre's Calendar Girls stars Lesley Joseph, Kacey Ainsworth, Camilla Dallerup, Helen Fraser, Sue Holderness, Deena Payne, Kathryn Rooney and Ruth Madoc, with Kevin Sacre as Lawrence the photographer. Su Holderness is best known as Marlene Boyce in the BBC's hugely popular Only Fools and Horses as well as the spin off series The Green Green Grass. Deena Payne is probably best known as Viv Hope in Emmerdale, a role she's played for eighteen years making her the longest serving female cast member on the programme. Camilla Dallerup, one of the Strictly Come Dancing professionals, makes her acting debut as the beautician Elaine. Kathryn Rooney returns to Calendar Girls having starred in the West End production. Her other credits include Rebecca with Nigel Havers, Buddy and Beauty and the Beast. Ruth Madoc, best known as Gladys Pugh in Hi-De-Hi has more recently been seen on our screens as Dafydd's mother in Little Britain. Kevin Sacre, who plays Lawrence the photography, joins Calendar Girls from Hollyoaks in which he plays the slightly disturbed Jake Dean. Kevin says he thrilled to be joining Calendar Girls and touring with his wife, Camillla Dallerup! Susan Bovell, Robert Gill and Bruce Mcgregor complete the cast.
