Josie d’Arby is best known to many as a popular Tv personality . She has worked extensively on both stage and screen on some of the nations best loved shows. Josie was born and raised in Newport and has spent several months interviewing residents about their experiences and feelings regarding the City. The stories have been put together in a very special night of theatre.

“ I started to collect these stories and it was becoming very clear that there was a very special story to tell about life in Newport in 2012. My research has only strengthened my passion for our city . I wanted to give us a night at the theatre that was just for us , where you could relate to every word and you saw characters you actually knew on stage and then throw in a few surprises. The play is quite simply for Newport and about Newport, because there are so many wonderful stories hidden here, it’s a night to get dressed up and come and share a wonderful night with us”

The Synopsis
The Newport Monologues takes place during a secret committee meeting. A group of residents, all passionate about their City, have gotten together to discuss ways to celebrate and improve it. While at the meeting they reminisce about Newport’s past and present, during their discussions a surprising group of very colouful characters are all brought to life, who all have Newport in their hearts and a tale to tell about life in this great City.

“The play is a unique celebration of the people of our city and holds the understanding that it’s the people that make a place and shape its unique character. I hope people will find it a great night at the theatre that feels personal to them, I hope its full of surprises too. “ Josie d’Arby

The show stars A mix of Newport actors and other actors from the South Wales region.
