'Refuse'...

'Refuse'... Absurdly Moving Theatre Company bring you 'Refuse', their latest show, to Aberystwyth Arts Centre on Thursday September 20th at 7.45 pm.

Guff & Tosh use movement, humour, music and film to explore how, like rubbish, people and the environment are treated as disposable, where addiction to profit prevails.

It's a multi-media production with performance, original music and film. The story follows different characters as they decide what to do with the council's decision to destroy their homes in order to expand an airbase to make and test Unmanned Ariel Vehicles.

Treachery, profit and manipulation of society's fears are exposed and transformed through community action and magical intervention.

Humour, moving shapes, sculpture made from rubbish, and macabre advert breaks make this show a real treat for the senses and mind.

Maggie Nicols and Claire Turner share a passionate belief that creativity plays an essential role in bringing about individual and collective development and change. This play is one of the ways they feel they can contribute to the movement for a more just and joyous world for all.

Jacob Whittaker filmed and added inspired ideas to the adverts. Three of Christ Gattey's short animations about bees are also shown. Dr Gaz contributed to Maggie's sound track.

Refuse will be also be showing at The Millennium Hall, Lampeter, on the 13th October.

Tickets are £6 (£4). To book please contact Aberystwyth Arts Centre on 01970 62 32 32 or go online www.aber.ac.uk/artscentre
