Birmingham Royal Ballet’s 2012 Autumn Season comes to Wales Millennium Centre

Birmingham Royal Ballet will be returning to Wales Millennium Centre from 30 October to 3 November, with two programmes – a mixed bill, Autumn Celebration, and Sir Peter Wright’s timeless Swan Lake.

Autumn Celebration – a sizzling taste of Shakespeare, Noel Coward and Olympic dreams opens the company’s week at The Centre, from 30 to 31 October. The Grand Tour is a funny take on the eccentric celebrities of the 1920s, accompanied by the songs of Noel Coward, whilst Faster shows off the speed, power and athleticism of ballet, inspired by the Olympic motto 'Faster, Higher, Stronger'. Finally, The Dream features music by Mendelssohn, taking inspiration from Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream.

During the second half of the week, from 1 to 3 November, the company will perform Swan Lake, set to Tchaikovsky's beautiful musical score performed live by the Royal Ballet Sinfonia. A timeless story of good, evil and the all-conquering power of love, this famous classical ballet has been enchanting audiences around the world for over 100 years.

William Bracewell, who comes from Swansea, will be dancing in the male lead of Oberon in The Dream, a steward in The Grand Tour, a gymnast in Faster and Benno in Swan Lake.

Conrad Lynch, Artistic Director at Wales Millennium Centre said: “I’m delighted to welcome Birmingham Royal Ballet back to the Centre once again. This is a fantastic programme which includes a spectacular production of Swan Lake as well as a mixed bill which fully showcases their creativity and talent.”

Birmingham Royal Ballet will be at Wales Millennium Centre from 30 October to 3 November. Tickets are priced between £19.00 and £35.00. For further information visit www.wmc.org.uk Age guidance: 5+
