Best-selling children’s author Terry Deary set to meet Welsh fans of Horrible Histories
Lucky ticket holders coming to see the Horrible Histories at the New Theatre, Cardiff on Saturday 1 December are in for a treat as the writer of these hugely popular books, Terry Deary, will make a special appearance. Deary will meet and greet fans and sign their merchandise after the 10.30am performance of Terrible Tudors and the 2.00pm performance of Vile Victorians. Using actors and ground-breaking 3D special effects, the Terrible Tudors and the Vile Victorians shows bring historical figures and events to life in a thrilling and unique way, live on stage.

Terry Deary is the author of 190 books which are sold in 40 different languages. Horrible Histories have sold more than 20 million books world wide. In 2009 CBBC Television launched a major television series of his Horrible Histories which has gone on to win several Children's BAFTA awards. In February 2011 the TV series won a British Comedy Award for best sketch show - the first children's show ever to win a Comedy Award. The same month Terry Deary became the 10th most-borrowed author in British libraries.
Terry began his career as a professional actor in 1972 when he joined Theatre Powys in Mid-Wales. During this time, Terry began writing scripts for some of the shows. One of the most successful was a children's show called The Custard Kid. When the tour ended Terry didn't want to lose the exciting tale so he turned it into a children's novel. That first novel was published by A & C Black who are still publishing his books 35 years later. His writing has included fiction and popular non-fiction. He also writes TV, theatre, radio, audio and new media scripts
