TALES, TUNES AND TUTUS!     

TALES, TUNES AND TUTUS! Rhondda Cynon Taff Theatres play host to an exciting season of events this October. The Coliseum Theatre in Aberdare, The Muni Arts Centre in Pontypridd and The Park & Dare in Treorchy have a jam packed month of music, drama, dance, comedy and family events for young and old alike.

Stars of the Opera, the smash hit pop opera spectacular featuring cast members from Les Miserables and Phantom of the Opera lights up the stage of The Coliseum Theatre on Friday 19 October. From Nessun Dorma to Bohemian Rhapsody, O Sole Mio to Unchained Melody this is the show for opera fans and popular music fans alike. Also coming up at The Coliseum Theatre on Tuesday 23 October is the heart-warming festive classic A Christmas Carol presented by Ballet Theatre UK, filled with joy, laughter and heart warming moments this enchanting new production combines traditional ballet with captivating theatre - all performed to a glorious score.

Coming up at The Muni Arts Centre is the wickedly funny comedy drama Neville’s Island on Tuesday 16 & Wednesday 17 October. Staring Keiron Self (My Family) this comic drama pokes fun at management, masculinity and middle-age as four business men get stranded on an island in the Lake District in the middle of a team building exercise, cut off from the world, menaced by wildlife and with only a cold sausage between them tempers soon fray! . If music is your thing then you’ll be spoilt for choice as some Wales’ best contemporary folk artists come together in one superb show on Friday 19 October with performances from Cowbois Rhos Botwnnog, The Gentle Good and Georgia Ruth, there’s an exclusive acoustic gig with Simon and Oscar from Ocean Colour Scene on Tuesday 23 October, and Hot Club Of Cowtown take to the stage on Thursday 1 November. The deliciously scary stories of the Brothers Grimm are vividly brought to life in Grimm Tales on Wednesday 31 October – making it the perfect Halloween outing!

Roald Dahl’s Little Red Riding Hood and the Three Little Pigs, presented by the award winning Ballet Cymru, is the perfect introduction to ballet for children and is at the Park & Dare Treorchy on Saturday 6 October. With stunning costumes, breathtaking choreography and laugh-out-loud humour this brand new production is an imaginative evening of beautiful dance and original storytelling. For some top notch comedy don’t miss the Park & Dare’s monthly comedy nights with stand up comedy from Edinburgh Festival favourite Bridget Christie and her hilarious new show War Donkey on Thursday 18 October.

Wales’ favourite playwright Frank Vickery returns to all three theatres during October with a new production of Breaking The String. Written by and starring Frank Vickery with Sue Roderick ,Daniel Hanna and Kate Powell this bitter-sweet comedy is one of Frank’s favourites with laugh-out-loud gags interwoven with moments that will make you cry.
