Wales Arts Review to host inaugural Critics’ Roundtable in Cardiff, November 17th 2012

Wales Arts Review to host inaugural Critics’ Roundtable in Cardiff, November 17th 2012 The Wales Arts Review will host its inaugural annual Critics’ Roundtable on November 17th 2012 at the Richard Burton Theatre in the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.

This new, FREE, annual event will be a meeting place for lively debates about the arts, and this inaugural Roundtable will mark the successful founding of online critical forum Wales Arts Review.

Lively panel debates will be held on the following topics: ‘Politics, Theatre and Truth’, ‘High Art versus Popular Culture’, and, in a nod to the man who gave his name to our host venue, ‘Richard Burton and the legend of the Celtic hell-raiser’.

Panellists will include theatre critic Lyn Gardner (The Guardian), the novelist Niall Griffiths, the writer and broadcaster Jon Gower, John McGrath (Artistic Director of National Theatre Wales) and ITV Wales political editor Adrian Masters.

The Wales Arts Review is a new critical writing hub, edited by Dylan Moore and Gary Raymond - featuring the very best in contemporary arts criticism. The Roundtable event will build on the success of its first year to usher in a new era of arts criticism in Wales.

The vibrant Welsh arts scene needs the support of engaged and informed critics. The Wales Arts Review has the reach to provide people across Wales, and beyond, with diverse and thought-provoking reviews on the latest books, theatre, film, music, visual arts and new media.

The Roundtable will also see the launch of the newly redesigned Wales Arts Review website, which has been optimised for use across tablet and smart phone platforms. The new improved site will make the Wales Arts Review one of the most exciting critical hubs anywhere on the net. As the Wales Arts Review becomes a state-of-the-art digital publication, it will be the most exciting place to read about the arts in Wales.
