Local youngsters hard work pays off as they win roles in Orbit Theatre’sBugsy Malone at the New Theatre Young people who attended the Orbit Theatre summer camp in Cardiff this year are enjoying the fruits of their labour as they get the opportunity to perform on the New Theatre stage in Orbit’s production of Bugsy Malone. The fun-filled gangster story is at the New Theatre from Tuesday 30 October – Saturday 3 November. The aim of the summer school, lead by Bugsy Malone Director, Rob Thorne, was to give local young people the chance to learn about acting, signing, dancing and movement. Over 60 under 18 year olds took part, with the majority going on to win a role in the Cardiff theatre company’s latest production, joining the 70-strong cast. Set in 1920s New York City, Bugsy Malone is the gangster story where the sharp-suited wise guys are kids and the guns all fire splurge! It includes the songs Bad Guys, You Give a Little Love, My Name is Tallulah and Bugsy Malone. Orbit Theatre has showcased the finest acting, singing and dancing from the Cardiff area with an impressive track record of high quality and enjoyable productions, including The Producers, The Wizard of Oz and Annie.
