Joe Pasquale ready to entertain Wales this Christmas in the enchanting pantomime Sleeping Beauty at the New Theatre, Cardiff |
Once again, Cardiff’s New Theatre is hosting Wales’ number one Christmas pantomime. Sleeping Beauty, starring Joe Pasquale, Wales’ own Ceri Dupree and Lucy Evans is at the New Theatre, Cardiff from Saturday 8 December 2012 – Sunday 20 January 2013. Guaranteed to get audiences into the festive spirit, Sleeping Beauty is ready to take family fun to another dimension with amazing 3D special effects and all the usual panto magic, catchy songs, energetic dance routines and an abundance of comedy! Taking the lead as Muddles in this spectacular panto is comedian, television presenter ad all-round entertainer Joe Pasquale. National treasure Joe has delighted audiences for nearly 20 years with his live stand-up tours. His many theatre credits include The Producers, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, as well as many sold-out pantomime seasons. In 2004 he was crowned ‘King of the Jungle’ in ITV’s I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here and his television work includes six Royal Variety Performances and The Price Is Right. Joining Joe is Wales’ own Ceri Dupree as Queen Passionella, named the most glamorous dame in the world. Ceri’s unique talents have taken him around the world performing in musical theatre, cabaret, television and pantomime. He has appeared in many iconic West End nightclubs including Café de Paris, Ronnie Scott’s and Madame Jo Jo’s, where he appeared twice a night, six nights a week for two years! He then went on to appear at Cardiff’s Minsky’s Music Hall. His extensive theatre work includes Hello Dolly, The Rocky Horror Show and regular appearances at the New Theatre. He has also written and produced several of his own shows including The Ladies I Love and Miss-Leading Ladies. Adding a touch of glamour to the show in the role of Princess Beauty is Lucy Evans. She is best known for her TV roles in Coronation Street as Lauren Wilson and appearances in Hollyoaks and Holby City. Her theatre work includes Little Cosette in Les Miserables. With 71 shows ahead of them, this wonderful cast can’t wait to get started! Michael Harrison, Managing Director of Qdos Pantomimes and the Executive Producer of Sleeping Beauty, said: “We are thrilled that Joe Pasquale, who has smashed pantomime box office records wherever he has performed, will be leading the cast of the New Theatre pantomime. Joe’s high-energy comedy combined with Ceri’s kaleidoscopic wardrobe, a superb cast and brand-new 3D special effects mean that no one will dare fall asleep during this production of Sleeping Beauty. It will be without a doubt one of the most impressive pantomimes ever staged in Cardiff.” Sleeping Beauty is produced by Qdos Entertainment, the world's foremost pantomime producer, and staged by the same team that presented last year's critically-acclaimed New Theatre pantomime. Qdos Entertainment will stage 24 pantomimes around the UK this Christmas and its 2012/13 pantomime season is sponsored by Skype. Like pantomime, Skype is a family-oriented organisation and brings people together to share in special moments. There are still some good seats available but anyone interested in securing their seats should book as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. PLEASE NOTE: Joe Pasquale is unable to appear at the following performances: 6, 13, 20 January 2013. At those performances, the part of Muddles will be played by CBBC and Blue Peter presenter Barney Harwood.
