Fluellen Theatre Company in association with Swansea Grand Theatre presents Hobson's Choice at Swansea Grand TheatreThursday 7th - Saturday 9th March at 7.30pm (Fri mat 12.30pm) Set in Salford, Manchester in 1880, and first produced in New York in 1915, before being produced in London a year later, the hilarious comedy Hobson's Choice, has been produced as a stage play, adapted for film several times and has also been a Broadway musical. Now it graces the stage at Swansea Grand Theatre from Thursday 7th to Saturday 9th March, before heading off on a nationwide tour. A cobbler, Henry Hobson, has three daughters: Maggie, Alice and Vicky. All work in their father's shop, while Hobson drinks away his time with fellow masons at the Moonraker's Arms public house. A rich customer, Mrs Hepworth, demands to know who has made her boots; it's Hobson's underpaid bootmaker, Will Mossop. She insists that all her and her daughters' boots must from now on be made by Will. Maggie, who's considered too old and plain to marry, but is considered a talented business woman, proposes marriage to Will. Hobson laughs at this proposal and Will and Maggie leave the shop, borrow £100 from Mrs Hepworth, set up shop on their own and marry as soon as they can. Find out what happens to Will and Maggie, and how Hobson is left with no choice in this classic comedy by the highly acclaimed Fluellen Theatre Company.
