Welsh performer Rebecca Trehearn leads the cast of Ghost the Musical |
Established Welsh West-End performer Rebecca Trehearn will play the leading role of Molly Jensen in the upcoming national tour of Ghost the Musical which opens at Wales Millennium Centre 10 – 27 April 2013. Rebecca Trehearn, who hails from Rhyl, will play the leading role of Molly Jensen when Ghost The Musical comes to Cardiff this spring alongside Stewart Clarke as Sam Wheat and Wendy Mae Brown as Oda Mae Brown. Having starred in numerous West End shows, including Dirty Dancing, We Will Rock You and Ghost The Musical at Piccadilly Theatre, Rebecca now joins the show as it embarks on its first UK tour. The smash hit West End musical Ghost the Musical, based on the Academy Award winning film, is directed by the Tony award winning Matthew Warchus (Matilda, Art) and has music and lyrics by Grammy award winning Dave Stewart (Eurythmics) and Glen Ballard featuring the iconic song Unchained Melody. Ghost The Musical is another to add to our list of large scale UK touring productions, which have opened at the Centre including the exceptionally popular Cameron Mackintosh’s Les Misérables and Oliver and Andrew Lloyd’s Webber, The Sound of Music – all of which went on to phenomenal success.” He continues: “Being the first to stage the touring production of Ghost is a great platform to show off Wales and with Rebecca Trehearn as a Welsh leading lady, it’s the icing on the cake.” Ghost the Musical has been seen by over 500,000 people and has been nominated for five Olivier Awards and three Tony Awards. Based on the phenomenal Oscar winning movie that captured the hearts and imaginations of a generation back in the 90s, Ghost the Musical is a timeless fantasy about the power of love. Sam is trapped as a ghost between this world and the next trying to communicate with girlfriend Molly through a phoney psychic in the hope of saving her from his murderer. Ghost the Musical is a rollercoaster ride of romance and comedy with dazzling state-of-the-art staging. Oscar winning Bruce Joel Rubin adapted his original screenplay for the stage production. Rubin won an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay for the movie Ghost, which starred Patrick Swayze, Demi Moore, Tony Goldwyn and Whoopi Goldberg.
