The powerful, intense and critically acclaimed ghost story, The Woman in Black, returns to the New Theatre, Cardiff for one week only from Monday 29 April – Saturday 4 May.Audiences can expect an evening of chilling and unremitting drama as lawyer Arthur Kipps tells his story. Obsessed with a curse that he believes has been cast over him and his family, he engages a sceptical young actor to re-enact his experiences at Eel Marsh House. Together they turn the recital into a dramatic performance, the actor taking on the persona of Mr Kipps, and the lawyer playing the various characters in the tale. The borders between make believe and reality then begin to blur. Taking the role of Arthur Kipps is Julian Forsyth (Wicked, Oliver!, A Touch of Frost, Dalziel and Pascoe) with Antony Eden (Les Miserables, Carrie’s War, The Bill) as the young actor. Both actors have previously played the role in the West End. The clever use of props, special sound and lighting effects conjures up a Victorian world of sighing winds and eerie marshes. Combining lighting projections, clouds of dry ice, ear-splitting screams and the atmospheric power of the theatre, the production offers a real thrill of horror and a truly spine-chilling experience. This gripping stage adaptation of Susan Hill’s novel has been enjoyed by, (and terrified!) over 7 million people and is currently celebrating its 23rd year in the West End. It is now a major motion picture starring Daniel Radcliffe. The Woman in Black is at the New Theatre, Cardiff from Monday 29 April – Saturday 4 May. Tickets are £8.50 - £26.00 and can booked via the Box Office on 029 2087 8889 or online* at www.newtheatrecardiff.co.uk. *online sales carry a small transaction charge |
