What Was That? Productions presents ‘Life of Riley’ by Sir Alan Ayckbourn |
Following the sell-out successes of 'The Kebabman Cometh', 'Table Manners', and their recent musical production, 'tick, tick…BOOM!', What Was That? Productions are very excited to be returning to the Aberystwyth Arts Centre with their newest offering 'Life of Riley' on April 17th and 18th 2013. Sir Alan Ayckbourn's fresh comedy is set to have Aberystwyth audiences laughing once again, and was chosen with the success of 2011's 'Table Manners' (also by Ayckbourn), in mind. Having only premiered in 2010, the What Was That? Productions team are extremely excited to be one of the very first companies to produce this play professionally. The play enjoyed a limited run at the Stephen Joseph Theatre in Scarborough and a limited tour in 2011, both of which were directed by Sir Alan Ayckbourn. This roller coaster ride of humour and sadness is set over 7 months and highlights the entanglements of seven characters, and their dealings with the ever-elusive George Riley. Having been diagnosed with terminal cancer, George manages to have an unwelcome, yet hilarious impact on everyone else's lives! Watch, (and laugh) as each of three couples discovers there is far more to George than meets the eye! Produced by Aberystwyth University Graduates Alan Mehdizadeh, Steven Humpherson and Adam Lacey, also directed by Adam Lacey, ('Table Manners' and 'tick, tick…BOOM!'), the play will retain the company’s strong commitment to producing theatre which showcases the work of Aberystwyth affiliated individuals, whilst continuing to present professional actors from as far afield as Indianapolis! The company are joined again by actresses Laura Bacon (Table Manners) and Clara Stephens (The Kebabman Cometh), as well as welcoming new company members Alex Bull, Matt Christmas and local actress Mari Fflur Rowlands. Completing the casting are Hugh Edwards and Steve Humpherson, both of whom graduated from Aberystwyth in 2007. What Was That?
