Sherman Cymru to stage 3 stories inspired by the capital city of Wales. |
Sherman Cymru will be staging 3 plays about power, belonging and independence, inspired by the dark corners and open spaces of the Capital of Cardiff. Trwy'r Ddinas Hon is three Welsh language plays performed in one evening and will be at Sherman Theatre from 25-29 June. Mared Swain directs all three plays , performed by the same cast. The three plays have been written by Dyfed Edwards, Sharon Morgan and Marged Parry, The first play by Marged Parry is Traed Bach Concrit and follows the story of those selected to protect the heritage and future of Cardiff’s in a futuristic vision of Cardiff. Sharon Morgan’s play is entitled, Myfanwy Yn Y Moorlands which follows the story of a woman who meets a young stranger intent on taking her on a fantastic journey. But can she tell the difference between reality and illusion? The final play, Llwch O’r Pileri has been written by Dyfed Edwards and is set in 1958. It’s the aftermath of the Second World War and Germany has won the war and Wales has won the World Cup. Director of Trwy'r Ddinas Hon and Artistic Associate for Welsh language work at Sherman Cymru, Mared Swain said: “This will be an exciting project to work on. These are three interesting short plays that offer a different view on our capital city. Actors will be challenged to take on different roles in each piece and audiences can see three plays in one evening. ” This thee hander will be performed by Tomos Eames (The Kenny Everett Story), Siw Hughes (Gwaith Cartref and long-standing character of Kath in Pobol Y Cwm) and Hanna Jarman (Zanzibar, Pen Talar). Trwy'r Ddinas Hon will be staged in Theatre 2, Sherman Cymru, Cardiff from 25-29 June at 8pm. There will be subtitled performances on Wednesday 26 and Friday 28 June. Tickets are £14, preview performance on 25 June (tickets are £12) and under 25s get half price tickets at all performances.
