Sherlock Holmes – The Best Kept Secret at the New Theatre, Cardiff

The New Theatre, Cardiff is delighted to announce the wonderful cast for the gripping new production of Sherlock Holmes – The Best Kept Secret, at the New Theatre from Tuesday 18 – Saturday 22 June. Taking on the role of the renowned Sherlock Holmes is Jason Durr with Andrew Hall beside him as the ever trusted Watson. Adrian Lukis plays Sherlock’s methodical brother Mycroft while Tanya Franks takes on the role of the alluring Irene Adler with Victor McGuire as Inspector LeStrade.

The legendary occupant of 221b Baker Street faces his greatest challenge ever in a mystery spiked with such an emotional charge that Sherlock’s faith in logic seems lost to an impenetrable world of magic. Full of murder, intrigue and danger, the World’s Greatest Detective embarks on a gripping new action-packed case.

Two years after the Reichenbach Falls, Sherlock Holmes has lost his hunger. Refusing to take on any new cases he’s listless, bankrupt and reduced to selling the stories of his past glories. But when his brother Mycroft is arrested for treason, Holmes is jolted back into action along with Watson and the mysterious and beautiful Irene Adler. With demons of his own to fight and unsettled by feelings for the captivating Miss Adler he must battle unseen forces in a race to save Mycroft’s life.

Based on the characters of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, this thrilling new production is written by BAFTA nominated Mark Catley, directed by Nikolai Foster, designed by Michael Taylor with spectacular magic and illusions by Scott Penrose.

Jason Durr is a television drama regular, most notably playing PC Bradley for six series of Yorkshire Televisions Heartbeat. Recent television credits include Lewis, Midsomer Murders and Above Suspicion. Andrew Hall has recently been seen as Marc Selby on ITV’s Coronation Street. Other television credits include EastEnders, Doctors and Holby City. His stage credits include Mamma Mia and Hayfever for the Peter Hall Company.

Joining them are Tanya Franks (Pulling, Broadchurch, EastEnders), Victor McGuire (Jack Boswell in Bread and Ron in Goodnight Sweetheart), Andrew Langtree (Emmerdale), Kerry Peers (Brookside) and John Catteral (Emmerdale and Coronation Street).
