Louche Theatre….Off to Edinburgh Fringe…with an Overcoat!

Louche Theatre….Off to Edinburgh Fringe…with an Overcoat! Louche Theatre return to Greenside (venue 231) for the third time with a production of Wolf Mankowitz's classic, 'The Bespoke Overcoat'.

With their previous productions of 'The Remnants of Once Fine Girls' (2010) and 'Be My Baby' (2011), Louche Theatre attracted 10 award nominations and a 3-star review in 'The Scotsman', and director Harry Durnall is hoping for even more success in 2013 with 'The Bespoke Overcoat'. The film version won an Oscar in the 1950s. Can Louche win the Fringe equivalent?!

'The Bespoke Overcoat' is a morality tale, a tale of friendship and a stark reminder of the poverty faced by the Jews in post-war London.

Meet Morry the old tailor, trying to get the best price for his coat, sickly Fender who is dying for want of a good coat, cold-hearted Ranting who denies Fender a coat and the New Clerk, young, fit, healthy and...alive – the exact opposite of Fender!

This gentle gem is hilarious and mournful in turn and tinged throughout with poetry

"This play has it all – laughs, tears and above all the warm, silk-clad steel of true friendship." (Paddy Cooper, Theatre in Wales review of Louche Theatre's 'The Bespoke Overcoat')

Louche Theatre will be presenting ‘The Bespoke Overcoat’ from Monday August 12th until Saturday August 17th at Greenside (venue 231 ), Royal Terrace, Edinburgh, daily at 3pm.

But before their trip to Bonnie Scotland they will be presenting ‘The Bespoke Overcoat’ at several venues in Wales. These ‘Fringe Previews’ will take place at the Morlan Centre, Queens Road, Aberystwyth from Friday 19th July to Sunday 21st July at 7,30pm, with matinees on the Saturday and Sunday at 2.30pm. Then on Saturday 27th July they will be at Y Tabernacle, Machynlleth at 8.00pm and their final Wales performance will be at the Dragon Theatre, Barmouth on Friday 2nd August again at 8.00pm.
