Frank Vickery returns to the ‘Stute!

Following on from the recent success of Granny Annie and Breaking the String, Wales’ favourite playwright, Frank Vickery returns to Blackwood Miners’ Institute between Monday 17th June and Wednesday 19th June, when he directs one of his favourite works – ‘A Kiss on the Bottom’.

This devilishly humorous, yet profoundly poignant play revolves around three women, who are in The Royal Glamorgan Hospital for treatment. Grace is elderly and world-weary, nearing the end of her life. She’s joined by the foolishly, self-deluding Lucy and Marlene - a hopeless optimistic.

It's up to Marlene, the strongest and outspoken of them all, to keep the atmosphere in the ward cheery. It's a task that comes easily to her and soon she is forcing herself into the private lives of Lucy and Grace.

As time tediously ticks by, the three main occupants share laughter and tears as the beauty of friendship and the sting of society’s attitude towards the elderly collide.

‘A Kiss on the Bottom’ features a talented all female cast - Lynfa Ackerman stars as Marlene, Iris Griffiths performs as Lucy and Deryn Grigg plays Grace, all have previously performed in several of Frank’s plays.

The play is fit to burst with chirpy, cheeky chitchat, forcible friendships and stirring sentiment.

‘A Kiss on the Bottom’ will be at Blackwood Miners’ Institute from Monday 17th – Wednesday 19th June at 7.30pm. Tickets cost just £13.00 (£12.00 concessions) and are available from the box office on 01495 227 206 or online at www.blackwoodminersinstitute.com.
