LIVEARTSHOW presents THE FUTURE FOR BEGINNERS - WORLD PREMIERE
Following their award-winning adaptation of Rhinegold LIVEARTSHOW have teamed up with the Wales Millennium Centre for their new production.

The company, that won the Peter Brook Award for Innovation in 2012, bring their unique blend of music and theatre to the Weston Studio with THE FUTURE FOR BEGINNERS.

Oliver and Bethan (played by Oliver Wood and Bethan Mary-James) are so determined to grow old together they have planned the rest of their lives in great detail. But there’s a problem… Day One is missing.

LIVEARTSHOW’S Alan Harris and Martin Constantine, have created the show following their success with Rhinegold and the dance opera Manga Sister (Time Out’s Critics’ Choice) at The Yard Theatre, London.

“We’ve worked closely with the WMC over the past few years to develop this idea: the play is largely improvised which means that it’s slightly different every night,” said Martin Constantine.
“This brings an exciting layer of spontaneity and contrasts with the tight control that the couple seek to impose on their future. The piece asks the question: if you could plan every day to guarantee you get what you want at the end of your life – would you?”

LIVEARTSHOW was founded by Martin Constantine, Harry Blake and Alan Harris with the aim of exploring the boundaries of theatre, music, dance and opera.

The company have previously produced the Time Out Critic’s Choice dance opera, MANGA SISTER, at The Yard “an astonishing and oddly moving success” THE GUARDIAN. They are currently working with National Theatre Wales exploring whether or not there is life after death and developing MANGA SISTER 2 at the The Yard, London.

Alan Harris (The Opportunity of Efficiency, National Theatre Wales / New National Theatre Tokyo, A Good Night Out in the Valleys, NTW), and Martin Constantine (The Owl and the Pussycat, Royal Opera House, Flight RWCMD / Sherman Cymru) and composer Harry Blake (Don Giovanni, Soho Theatre) have joined forces to create a new and entirely different way of looking at theatre and opera.

Batshit-mental. Inventive, impressive, striking. An eccentric gem.
TIME OUT CRITIC CHOICE / TIME OUT BEST THEATRE OF 2011

Uncompromising eccentricities. An astonishing and oddly moving success.
