Well, Summer Season is upon us again...and so far what a scorcher! The creative team, cast and crew have arrived at Aberystwyth Arts Centre to prepare for what Aberystwyth Arts Centre hope is going to be another box office hit.....LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS The creative team, cast and crew have packed their suitcases, left their loved ones behind, travelled on trains for hours and moved to their new homes in Aberystwyth for the next 9 weeks. However, for many of them it feels like coming home, particularly Anthony Williams, the director, who is returning for his 11th season. Whilst in Aberystwyth they rely very heavily on the local community and businesses to support them, and every year they do just that! From providing accommodation, advertising in the programme, and buying tickets, through to being an invaluable source of props and emergency wigs and wardrobe, the local community are always willing to help. The charity shops of Aberystwyth are a treasure trove of Vintage clothing and accessories that rival even the biggest London stores, and it’s good to know that the summer season production is supporting many charities in the process. Clothing stores, wig shops, craft shops and garden centres; they’ve been in almost all of them with a strange shopping list. Requests for unusual items are initially met with a puzzled look but a quick rummage in the stock room usually unearths exactly what we’re looking for. 1950’s spectacles, pleat fronted trousers, oversized dustbins, fake muscle chests,....the list goes on and on but it seems that almost every request is fulfilled. For many of the highly talented, West End cast it is their first visit to Aberystwyth and they are delighted to be spending a summer by the sea, making the most of the shops, bars, restaurants and beach on their day off. So, the team of LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS would like to say a huge Thank You to Aberystwyth for your continued support...they couldn’t do it without you. The opening night is on Friday 26 July and the professional production runs until 31 August, 2013.
