National Dance Company Wales celebrates 30 years with special performances and a new commission

This year National Dance Company Wales, (NDCWales), celebrates its 30th birthday with a programme t National Dance Company Wales celebrates 30 years with special performances and a new commission

This year National Dance Company Wales, (NDCWales), celebrates its 30th birthday with a programme that highlights its journey from a fresh and emerging company to an internationally-recognised name in contemporary dance.

The Company will present three dances from award-winning choreographers during its autumn 2013 tour, with special performances at Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff on 5th and 6th November. Selected dances will include live music from percussionist Julian Warburton, and the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.

Stephen Petronio; Water Stories
Stephen Petronio premières his new commission for NDCWales, with music from Academy Award-winning composer Atticus Ross, who created the score for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and The Social Network, plus original visual design from Matthew Brandt.

Angelin Preljocaj; Noces
The Company presents the renowned Angelin Preljocaj’s Noces, which is an astonishing spectacle of evocative movement set to Igor Stravinsky’s exquisite Les Noces.

Eleesha Drennan; Virtual Descent
Award-winning company choreographer Eleesha Drennan presents Virtual Descent alongside an original score by Mark Bowden which is performed live by percussionist Julian Warburton and the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama’s Symphony Orchestra.

The autumn tour visits: Newtown, 3rd- 4th October; Huddersfield, 15th October; Hereford, 22nd-23rd October; London, 30th October- 1st November; Cardiff, 5th-6th November; Glasgow, 12th November (Dream, Christopher Bruce; Noces, Angelin Preljocaj, & Water Stories, Stephen Petronio); Newcastle upon Tyne, 15th-16th November; Brecon, 26th-27th November.
