Following their successful tour of Up ’n’ Under in 2011 and Neville’s Island in 2012, Black RAT Productions will perform French playwright Marc Camoletti’s hilarious comedy farce Boeing Boeing, adapted by Beverley Cross and Francis Evans, in a sixteen venues tour around Wales this autumn from 1 October until 9 November. The tour is a Black RAT Productions and Blackwood Miners’ Institute Co-Production in association with RCT theatres and supported by the Arts Council of Wales. The comedy is set in the swinging 1960s, where young architect Bernard is living his dream life. He has a stylish apartment in Paris and an airline timetable that helps him plan his life perfectly. With accurate planning and the help of a reluctant housekeeper, he successfully juggles three air stewardess fiancées, each unaware of the others existence. But turbulence hits Bernard’s perfect life when his old school friend Robert comes to stay. Weather delayed flights and a new, faster Boeing jet send his busy love life into chaos. Soon all three stewardesses are grounded in Paris and Robert’s life starts to unravel with hilarious consequences. The play was first staged in London’s West End at the Apollo Theatre in 1962 and went on to enjoy Broadway success. In 1991 the play was listed as the most performed French play throughout the world. It received its first revival in recent years in London in 2006 at the Comedy Theatre and once again proved to be a hit with critic and audiences alike. Cast Details For the 2013 production the theatre company are delighted to welcome back three Black RAT favourites to the cast for Boeing Boeing as well as welcome new talent on board.
