Swansea Grand Theatre has been selected for nomination at the My TheatreMatters! UK's Most Welcoming Theatre Awards, sponsored by Classic FM. Swansea Grand Theatre receives so many positive comments from theatre patrons and touring companies about how welcoming the theatre is, this award is the chance for theatregoers to vote and support their local theatre, so that Swansea Grand Theatre can be recognised at a national level. Editor of The Stage Brian Attwood said: "The My Theatre Matters! campaign is all about celebrating the wonderful achievements of theatres across the UK, it gives audiences a chance to show how much they value their local theatre" To Vote for Swansea Grand Theatre please go to www.classicfm.com/theatre, select 'Wales' and 'Swansea Grand Theatre'. Voting closes on Monday 30 September. To ensure a fair and competitive process, the public voting system will be weighted by theatre capacity with the winner decided by number of public votes divided by number of venue seats. My Theatre Matters! is a nationwide campaign aimed at galvanising public support for local theatres across the UK in response to extreme pressures on local government funding. The campaign is led jointly by Equity, The Stage and the TMA. |
