Earthfall dance at the Chelsea Hotel, and a unique augmented reality APP Touring Wales and UK |
Check in to Chelsea Hotel - where every room has a story to tell
 After the success of last year’s award winning At Swim Two Boys, Earthfall Dance Company’s latest production Chelsea Hotel, takes you across the water to New York City and this infamous building, the bohemian artist mecca. Alongside the production Earthfall and Cardiff based APP development company Tradebox Media, have created an Augmented Reality (AR) APP which allows audience who attend the show access to three secret scenes, only available after the performance. When leaving the performance audience are provided with unique Chelsea Hotel chocolates. On the inside of the chocolate wrapper there is a secret image, which once scanned with the APP transforms to life. The app is available on all Smart Phones to download for free from their APP store – in order to use the Augment Reality section they must attend a performance for the trigger image. The app was created with Tradebox Media and includes: • Augmented reality camera – which reveals three secret scenes from the Chelsea Hotel • Q&A with Artistic Directors Jessica Cohen and Jim Ennis, about the history of Chelsea Hotel and the production • Tour Dates – with full booking links and that syncs to your phones calendar • Full Company biographies • A production photo gallery • Audio tracks from the show • Videos from the production • Comment and feedback section, where you can win an Earthfall Goody Bag • Background information about the company • Linked to twitter throughout the APP for instant social network sharing The production blazes a trail from Patti Smith and Robert Mapplethorpe to Dylan Thomas and Tennessee Williams; several stories, true and false, interplay through a voyeuristic discovery of the inhabitant’s lives, loves and longings. Over 70 minutes Earthfall reveals the poetry and tragicomic events from the iconic Chelsea Hotel and its place in contemporary culture, performed through dynamic dance, live music and film. Jessica Cohen, Co-Artistic Director, commented: “Our production is a crazy mixture of poetic movement, sex, violence, rock and roll, anger, companionship, cowboys and ghosts. It blends truth with lies, reality with fantasy. Projected images layer in narrative, environment and story fragments told directly to camera.
