The award-winning touring theatre company, Théâtre Sans Frontières, will be performing its family show Le Moulin Magique (The Magic Windmill) at Aberystwyth Arts Centre Tuesday 5 November 2013 on 10am. TSF brings its flair for engaging children in different languages and cultures to this enchanting Breton folk-tale by Paul de Musset. Vividly told through fast-paced action, music and startling comic invention, Le Moulin Magique is suitable for everyone aged 8 years and over and features a Cirque du Soleil principal clown. In simple French and easy to follow, even for those with little or no French, this is the perfect show for the whole family! The poor Miller Jean-Pierre and his wife are starving. The wind does not blow to turn the mill to grind the corn. The rain does not fall, the plants do not grow and there’s no food for the animals. In desperation, Jean-Pierre appeals to The Wind and The Rain for help with fantastical results. Finding themselves very rich all of a sudden, Jean-Pierre and Claudine begin to imagine how they can spend their newly acquired wealth. But the greedy Baron hears of their good fortune and demands all of their money in taxes. Afraid that their dreams are beginning to slip away, Jean-Pierre and Claudine hatch a plan to get their own back on their dastardly landlord... Le Moulin Magique is a fable for our times of resilience and generosity overcoming greed and the bad guy getting his just desserts. Performing in Le Moulin Magique are TSF regulars John Cobb, founder and joint artistic director of TSF, and Jack Burton (La Pelota Magica, Contes Dorés). Joining them for the first time are: Aron de Casmaker from Canada, principal clown personality in Cirque du Soleil’s outstanding production Alegria; and French actress Isabelle Schoelcher who has performed with The National Theatre. Directing the show is TSF’s joint artistic director and Chief Executive Sarah Kemp. The set and costumes are designed by Catherine Hieatt and Alison Ashton, and the music is composed by Jim Kitson. Known for its vibrant and innovative productions of world theatre in the original language, TSF has previously performed [Lorca: Amor en el Jardín/Como Agua Para Chocolate/Aladin et la Lampe Enchantée/El Sombrero de Tres Picos/Les Trois Mousquetaires/Islands] at [your venue]. Tickets cost £5 and are available from the Box Office on 01970 62 32 32 or online at www.aber.ac.uk/artscentre.
