Site I – Safle I Site I – Safle I, a new micro-festival of genre-defying performance happening in unusual styles and spaces will take place at Aberystwyth Arts Centre over two busy days on Thursday 6 and Friday 7 February.

The festival gives audiences an opportunity to experience some of the latest trends in performance including work that takes place in a bar, a shed, a walk in the woods and in complete darkness. Artists include Fuel, Third Angel, David Rosenberg, Ali Matthews, Two Destination Language and others, and it’s sure to be an inspiring and thought provoking event.

Fuel present Ring, a show which takes place in complete darkness in which the audience, wearing headphones, imagine themselves to be the protagonist in the unfolding narrative. The show uses binaural sound techniques to locate the audience in a particular sound environment, giving the performance an extraordinary, and unique, intimacy and immediacy.

Two Destination presents A Journey of a Home, a one on one audio performance walk which will take audiences on a mystery voyage into the woods and beyond

Third Angel present two works: Information Exchange investigates where ideas come from, whilst 600 People is a lecture demo inspired by conversations with Dr. Simon Goodwin and unlike anything you’ve seen before.

Ali Matthews presents What the Money Meant, a Faustian tale of an American waitress who enters into a devil's bargain with an overzealous customer, and begins to see the dark side of restaurant tipping culture.

The Hub, curated by Andrew Filmer and Louise Ritchie of Aberystwyth University’s Theatre Film and Television Studies department, features a host of unexpected encounters and entertainments including Trust Me My Dad’s a Hairdresser (Russ Basford), Five Minutes of Fame (Rebecca Collins), Speak Low (Gareth Evans), Tiny Tattoo Parlour (Ffion Jones), Call Me (Jo Bannon), Follow my Lead (Louise Ritchie), and ending with on-the-spot choreography led by The Festival Hub team!

Site I – Safle I is produced by Aberystwyth Arts Centre in collaboration with Aberystwyth University’s Department of Theatre, Film and TV Studies with the support of the Institute of Literature, Language and Creative Arts.
